As you get older, you may have an interest to start wearing makeup. While you think you're old enough, your parents may have different opinions for when you can start. Face
Here’s the key: You want to accentuate your features instead of looking made-up. Less is more. You don't want to appear like you've spent hours applying layers of makeup. Plus, minimizing the amount of makeup applied is better for your skin in the long run.
At your age, you don't need a lot of foundation, or any at all. You want to even out your skin tone and cover up any blemishes. Consider using a tinted moisturizer, which is a lighter formula and has the benefit of moisture. In order to cover up your blemishes, lightly dab concealer on the specific areas needed. Blend it by lightly brushing outwards. Let it dry and then set it with a cotton swab dipped in loose powder.
When using blush on your cheek area, go for a natural, sun-kissed look. Lightly brush blush over the "apples" of your cheeks (to find your "apples," just smile!) and finish with lighter coverage on the bridge of your nose and your forehead.
Eyes
For now, start with a little bit of eye shadow. Select a medium shade that can work well for an everyday look. To apply eye shadow, brush the color from your lash line up to the crease in your eye to cover your entire lid.
A little mascara to darken your lashes is a great way to call attention to your eyes. Have pretty blue eyes? Frame them with a dark brown mascara. Dark eyes? Opt for a slightly darker mascara shade.
Lips
Opt for a fresh look by applying lip gloss. It’s light and looks natural while adding a shimmery glow. Skip the heavy or bright lipstick.
Check with your parents for any guidelines you need to follow. When they see you have enhanced your look with little makeup, they will be happy to allow you to apply it everyday.
Transform It with a Different Color
You can totally change the look of a piece of clothing by dyeing it. Before you get started throwing every T-shirt you have into a tub for a change of color, ask your mom or older sister to help. Dye is messy and can permanently stain anything it touches.
Next, make sure the material is really dye-able — dyeing works best on things made of cotton. Polyester and nylon are much harder to dye. Also make sure you wash the dyed item separately from other clothes for a few washings — as much as you love lavender, your family might not want everything they own to be that color.
It’s important to make sure your clothing fits well. It should flatter your body. With a little bit of special attention and tailoring, a piece can become your favorite. Consider altering the hem of a skirt or pants or take in the waist to be more fitting. You can try to hem something yourself (measure carefully!) or take it to a tailor for a professional finish.
